Shhh…I Hear Something….

Apparently , it was just Santa because it was not the Braves.  Rumor has it that a trade with the Orioles that would have sent Adam Jones to the Braves feel through earlier this week.  If initial reports are correct, consider that a Christmas gift.  The early talk was that the Orioles wanted Martin Prado, Jair Jurrjens, and a prospect.  As much as I admire Adam Jones, he is not worth that to the Braves.  Prado is entirely too valuable to be in a three-for-one trade.  Some accounts say that the request was for any two pitchers and a prospect.  Either way, there is no movement and most importantly, Martin was not sent packing in an unequal trade!

Happy and Safe Holidays to you all!

No News….

I warned you not to expect any blockbusters from your Atlanta Braves. They did, however pick up left handed pitcher Robert Fish from the Angels in the Rule 5 draft. The 2006 sixth round pick spent last season with Double-A Arkansas where he struck out 41 in 30 1/3 innings with 3.26 ERA.

No S!*%?

Breaking news from Dallas: the Braves will only make moves that will make them  better.  What a relief!  I was concerned Frank Wren and the boys did not realize the object of the game.  All kidding aside, do not expect a splash move from Atlanta.  A team as close as the Braves were last year, there are not many pieces to fill.

From the outside, it appears that shortstop is an immediate need, but the lack of  movement and declining to resign Alex Gonzalez may indicate that minor leaguer Tyler Pastronicky is closer to being ready for the bigs than anyone thought.  Other moves that may be made are likely to be adding depth to the Braves roster.  While it is not flashy, it makes more sense than spending money just to spend money. If you thought that was even a possibility, WELCOME, you are obviously new in town!
