TMNT Day At Marlins Park, Marlins Fail At Baseball

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was the coolest part of the Marlins game today. The game was quite uneventful with the Fish losing to the Mets 5-1. Even Jason Bay hit a grand slam for the Mets. Fail.

No Marlin In The All Star Game? Rat Farts!

Bad news for us Marlins fans. Giancarlo Stanton felt some discomfort on his right knee during the game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday. Poor Stanton needs surgery on Sunday at 7:00 am.

So, no Home Run Derby and no All Star Game for Stanton and us to enjoy. To make things worse, he should be out for 4-6 weeks. In the words of Aerys’ own, Julie DiCaro, rat farts. Big rat farts.

Oh, and hold on, that’s not it though. No other Marlin is going to represent us in Kansas City. Stanton is still considered to be our representative even if he is not able to attend the All Star game. Yep. We will have no one there to show off our new logo. (Because we all love it now, right?)

It is bad enough that Stanton is hurt and will be away for such a long time, but I am so disappointed he is not able to attend the All Star game. For me, the All Star game is a tradition where I look forward to seeing our guys show off their skills. (Unless you’re Dan Uggla. Let’s forget that ever happened. I still love the guy though.) This year, I don’t even feel excited about it. Sure, I may watch a little bit if I have the chance, but it’s not the same without a Marlin.

Let’s hope that Giancarlo has a speedy recovery and that he comes back kicking ass again. In the end, that is all that matters.

Womp Womp, Marlins

This has been a frustrating month for the Marlins. Yes, Josh Johnson pitched an amazing game today against the Toronto Blue Jays.

JJ only gave up 2 hits and allowed 1 to score. He also struck out 7 batters.

However, the guys forgot how to hit again. They left 5 guys on base.

If it wasn’t for Omar Infante’s double in the 7th inning, Justin Ruggiano would have never scored and we would have been shut out.

Let’s not even mention the masterminds in the bullpen who ruined our chances of catching up by giving up hits left and right, plus a grand salami, and sealing the win for the Blue Jays 7-1.

Name The Marlins Home Run Sculpture

The guys over at the Palm Beach Post have named the Marlins home run sculpture “Longball Lagoon”. Not bad. I like it very much. It makes me think of the Mermaid Lagoon in Peter Pan.

I am not very good at making up creative and witty names, so I can’t think of anything clever to name the sculpture. I keep thinking of something like “Marlins on LSD”, but that’s not very appropriate.

Now put your creative hats on and give me your best names for the sculpture. The best one gets a pat on the back.

The Physics Of Marlins Park

marlins, marlins park, marlins ballpark, miami marlinsI am sure you have thought about the differences between Sun Life Stadium and Marlins Park as far as home runs go.

I know it has only been two games so far, but it seems like we won’t be seeing too many home runs at the new park.

During last night’s game, there were many close calls. Only one home run occured, and that was by J.D. Martinez of the Houston Astros. It barely landed in the Clevelander.

Luckily, the Marlins won 5-4 thanks to Gaby Sanchez and his double to let Chris Coghlan score.

Marlins: Ozzie Suspended, Apologizes Again

The Marlins took action on Tuesday against manager, Ozzie Guillen, and his comments about Fidel Castro. Ozzie has been suspended for 5 games. He also apologized publicly in front of the media while people demonstrated outside.

However, is this enough for the Cuban community to forgive Guillen for the words he said? I don’t think it’s even close.

Fans and celebrities alike have taken to Twitter to either defend Ozzie or trash him. For example, Gaby Sanchez, commented to Joe Capozzi from The Palm Beach Post, “Ozzie was very sincere in his apology. He definitely looked very sincere to me. We just have to move forward now.”

Ozzie said in spanish during his press conference, “I’m here to apologize with my heart in my hand, to ask for forgiveness from those I have hurt directly or indirectly.”  I want to get back to baseball as soon as possible. I am pretty upset that the feeling of excitement around the city about the team is now gone due to Ozzie not thinking before speaking.

Miami mayor, Tomas Regalado said he accepts Ozzie’s apology. Now let’s see how long it takes for everyone else to do the same… if ever.

Opening Night At Marlins Park

Opening Night was very special for us Marlins fans this year. We finally have our own place to call home.

I was fortunate to attend with my husband, Max; best friend, Jose; and friend, Victor.

Aside from the craptastic game result (and today’s game was not that great either), the whole experience was amazing. Let’s take a look at how the experience was for me at opening night.

Parking

Along with our season tickets, we have parking passes for one of the garages. Parking for us was a breeze. Instead of overpaying and parking in Miguelito’s front lawn (and getting blocked in by other cars), we paid $15 for parking a game.

Happy Marlins Opening Day Eve!

Well, I got my Marlins opening day tickets along with a parking pass. My outfit is ready.  Also, around opening day, I always like to think about who will earn the firsts of the upcoming season.

Yes, Gaby Sanchez, did hit the first home run against another Major League team at the new ballpark on Sunday.

However, since that was an exhibition game against the New York Yankees, it didn’t really count.

What’s On The Menu At Marlins Park

I am not one to go out of my way and buy food at a stadium. It’s usually way overpriced for mediocre grub.

However, there may be times at Marlins Park that I will be making the line at concessions for a meal.

First of all, the park will offer signature food from where the opposing team is from. For example, when the LA Dodgers are in town, you can order a Dodger Dog. Sounds delicious!

But the best part is that the Marlins have worked out their own signature menu and everything looks amazing!

A Spinning Marlin?!

Just watch the video below of the infamous new home run feature and keep your eye on the marlin on top.

Watch it with music. Anything will do, but it goes well with that Benny Hill theme.

I even mashed them up for you.
