Second Place For The Blues Isn’t Bad, Right?

Well, at least this guy's goal was pretty

Welp, that happened.

There’s quite a bit of me that doesn’t even want to talk about last night’s game. I feel like the more I talk about games, the more I jinx this team (no, I’m not superstitious, why?). Though I’m pretty sure at this point, I’m never allowed to go to another game with Hartigan ever again. Together we are 0-2, once in Bridgestone, once in Scottrade.

So that just means we move on, right? On to the last game of the regular season (how did that even happen?). The Stars are not going to be playing any more games until October after tonight. The question then remains, will we see the Stars that shut down Chicago the final day of last season? Or will we see the Stars that show as much energy as the people in Dallas show getting to their games when the Rangers are playing elsewhere? (Hint: That means no energy).

No matter which Stars team we see or which Blues lineup Hitch puts together, a bunch of us will in fact be watching this game together.

Tonight, if you have nothing to do, you should come out to Cousin Hugo’s in Manchester with us, famed location of previous meetups. Last time we nearly took over the entire back room. It gets a little rowdy, but that’s what makes things fun, right? Be there around 630, as the game starts 7-ish, and it’s best to start a game with a frosty adult beverage in hand.

All that aside, the other day I was chirping back and forth with a couple Canucks fans. They have the same type of superstitions as the rest of us crazy hockey kids, and the overwhelming consensus was “Let St Louis take the President’s Trophy, we’ll take the Cup.” They see the President’s Trophy as a jinx. Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. At this point, I’d forego the President’s if it meant this city got to plan another parade.

However, like Brad Lee said the other day in Game Time, jinxes mean nothing to others.

TAUNTING THE HOCKEY GODS IS NOT OK, KIDS.

This whole having your team in the playoffs thing is new to me. I’m a bit interested to see just how this superstition thing starts to affect me.

But. I am so freaking excited to find out.

Come on boys, one more win, a few days off, then the dance starts.

LET’S GO BLUES!!!

One More Then Our Blues Come Home

Blues at Coyotes, airing at 8pm CST on FSMW.

I have just two things to point out. Two VERY AWESOME things.

Back in the lineup tonight

Also:

Back in the lineup tonight

Hallelujah.

That is all.

LET’S GO BLUES!!!!

Losing Skid Snapped

A solid 4-1 win by our Blues over the Coyotes.

Sixty complete minutes of play.

Thirty-four saves by our goalie.

3-for-4 on the penalty kill.

1-for-2 on the power play.

Those are some damn good numbers.

This is the type of hockey this team has to play. While some of the penalties were questionable, for the most part they made sure to kill off any uneven time on that ice.

Keep it up boys.

Raising [My Middle Finger At] Arizona

Airing at 900pm on FSMW.

Why? I’ll tell you why. Because instead of doing Daylight Savings like the REST of the country (except Hawaii), they decided to be obnoxious and not bother with the semi-annual hour shift, which is the reason this game is at 900pm instead of 800pm like it would have been.

Well, that and I broke my middle finger over the weekend so it’s all splinted straight, which makes me flip everyone off. Details though, right? Look at me, trying to be like Barret Jackman!

Real quickly, can I just ask what kind of name the Jobing.com Arena is? I mean really.

Anyway, tonight. So the Coyotes may or may not have just had a 5-game win streak broken by our division rivals to the north (Chicago….Columbus is north too, I suppose, and so is Detroit….hmmm, direction fail). Given that the loss came in a Chicago power play that the Yotes were less than thrilled about, I have a feeling they’re not going to want that to happen again….the power play or the loss. It seems like so many times in just the past couple months the Blues have gone up against someone who’s coming off a loss they were REALLY upset about. Hmmm.

On the ice, the Yotes have decided to dub their own “Kid Line” of Kyle Turris, Brett MacLean, and Mikkel Boedker, but these three tend to lack the consistency that comes with being more of a veteran in the game. Like so many young players, though, there’s the potential there. That combined with their scoring-by-committee type play means a really big night is needed from our blue liners, as well as from our goalie (Halak probably, but I haven’t seen confirmation as of writing this).

From what I’ve read, since I didn’t see the game, Halak was pulled on Saturday. Now, I’m not sure if that was because of his lack of seeing the puck, or from a lack of d-men getting in the Sharks’ way, but if this season has taught me anything, it’s a combination of both. The frustrating thing for me, most likely you, and I’m almost positive for them, is that on some nights they’re all GREAT! See: Thursday’s game against the Kings. So I just don’t know what gets into their heads some days.

So they are out of the playoffs. That doesn’t make a loss sting any less. Is it distracting to come off a loss that from what I hear was just awful to watch? I’m sure it is. Do they have concerns about the ownership situation? I’m sure they do. So do the Coyotes. Yet I know our boys can pull it together for just a couple more games. If not for wins, at least for entertainment’s sake. I don’t want to stay up way past my bedtime for a boring game, like I did for their game against the Ducks.

For our sakes, for our team’s sakes (for heaven’s sake?), I hope we bring home a win tonight.

LET’S GO BLUES!!!!
