But you know, part of me is feeling like it’s crashing. Slowly but surely. These west coast games combined with the game sevens (with the exception of the Flyers/Sabres game 7….one of these things is not like the others in excitement level), and the OVERTIMES. My god the overtimes. My blood pressure has risen and fallen, and I’ve yelled at the TV, I’ve and DVRed more hockey games than I know what to do with.
What the hell am I going to be like when the Blues do this?!
So, I was off by a game in predicting round one. But you know what? After the Bruins just slept through the first two games, I’ll take it. Once the team decided to wake up, there was, surprisingly enough, INTENSITY on the ice. Amazing how that works, isn’t it?
Taking this series all the way to game seven, and then into overtime, well, how much more could this rivalry be fueled? Seriously. And the goalies. Oh my god the goalies.
I think my Vezina post may have clued a few of you into the fact that I’m so head over heels for goalies in general that watching a battle like this, between two of the best in the league, was like Christmas every other day. Well, really, with the goalies for the playoff teams in general, it was like Christmas every day, but that’s an entirely different post for a different late night.
Really quickly though, let’s talk about the Bruins powerplay, or lack thereof. The PP ended round one at -1 for 21. Yes, that’s right, NEGATIVE ONE, due to the shorthanded goal given up to Plekanec. No other team who played in round one failed to capitalize on the PP. That has GOT to change. And fast. Round two starts tomorrow.
For the upcoming series against the Flyers, the Bruins absolutely need to get their PP together. They need to lock it up, stop sleeping through games, and let Timmy know that there’s a team in front of him that he can count on.
Oh, and Big Z needs to win a faceoff again, because that was awesome.
Bruins over Flyers in six.

I’m editing this to add, go check out the recap (whenever it gets posted) from my Aerys counterpart Bailey at Geek in the Rink. I know she’s had a rough night.

[...] both up front and on the blue line. While I’m concerned about the Bruins power play (which, as my friend Ann points out here, was “-1-for-21†against the Canadiens), the goaltending of Tim Thomas should win out over [...]
