Better than I expected. Why? Well, see I’ve been traveling a lot lately. Last weekend it was St. Louis for Father’s Day and to watch some baseball, and this past weekend (well, the past 4 days), it was NYC to visit my brother.
As many of you probably know, one of the hardest things on a diet is traveling.
1) You’re probably going somewhere fun and what to enjoy yourself (and watching every little thing you put in your mouth isn’t overly fun).
2) It’s often hard to find time to work out. If you’re like me, you like to cram as much stuff in as possible.
3) It gets you out of your routine…And for me that’s the worst of it.
I can say that I was fairly happy with my food choices/quantity during my trips. I never really overate and made fairly decent decisions. I also did a pretty good job of finding time to work out. In St. Louis, I did actually go to the hotel gym and did some time on the elliptical. And while in NYC, we walked A LOT. Thankfully, my brother is in pretty great shape, so we did a lot of walking.
It’s the 3rd item that throws me off. Often times, I’m so exhausted from my trips that I don’t end up working out the whole next week. Yeah, not good. I also tend to make bad food choices just out of pure laziness. You’d think that since I was conscious of my food choices and exercised when I could that I wouldn’t want to spoil that hard work! Yeah, I don’t understand my brain either.
Thankfully, I have these next few days off from work and intend to use that time to get back into gear by cooking a lot of healthy meals, catching up on sleep and working out.
So, any of you have any great “traveling while on a diet” tricks? I’d love to hear them!
