Winter Warm-Up Interviews: Pitchers Edition Part Two

Two more short interviews with pitchers. Sometimes-Closer/Sometimes-Set-Up-Guy Mitchell Boggs, and young starter extraordinaire Jaime Garcia both were able to talk to us for a few minutes.

Jaime Garcia

On this coming season:

“There’s always room to get better. But I am excited to get two full years under my belt. Physically this is the best I’ve ever felt.”

On Adam Wainwright:

“He’s going to do what he’s capable of doing. He’s ready right now.”

On working to be one of the premier lefties in the league:

“I like to do the talking on the field. It’s all about going out there and executing.”

Mitchell Boggs was a little more talkative, and his confidence levels were absolutely sky high.

On this coming season:

“I’m ready to go for 2012 right now. I feel like I’ve got a lot of things to prove this year. I feel like I’ve got an opportunity to come into camp and show I can compete…I’ve got to prove I’m worthy of some of those roles. My last couple years have been good but haven’t been great. I feel like I could be great. The thought process going into this year is to be the best I can be, whatever the role that’s in.”

With confidence:

“If I don’t expect to be really good, no one else is going to expect me to be really good. If I pitch the way I’m capable of pitching, I can compete with anybody.”

On the Warm-Up:

“Cardinals fans are so good. They’re here no matter what. They appreciate the championship, but they appreciate the Cardinals more.”

Having a solid bullpen, solid starters, has been quite the talking point all weekend, and the comments have all revolved around the team being in a much better position than they were at this time last year. Having guys like Garcia and Boggs in the lineup makes it easy to see why management is so very confident in saying so.
