News broke right before noon CST that the Chicago Bears and Matt Forte finally came to terms regarding a four-year contract hours before the deadline. ESPNChicago.com is reporting that the deal is roughly $32 million for four years, giving Forte the security he has been waiting for. Additional contract details have yet to be disclosed.
The Bears’ front office has shown little urgency with Forte contact situation in the past, and Forte has been back and fourth with the team for over a season, unhappy with his $7.7 million tender and eager for a long-term deal. Bears’ fans have been on the edge of their seat and are relieved to find out that everyone’s patience has paid off. Literally.
This is another positive mark for the Bears this off-season and another reason to look forward to training camp and the 2012-13 season- a win-win situation for all!
