Welcome to the wondrous Windy City! My name is Kelly O'Brien, and I am currently a freshman at Bradley University majoring in sports communication. Sports, specifically those in Chicago, are my true passion. Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, I have spent countless hours living and dying with the best and worst of the Bears, Cubs, Bulls, and Blackhawks. When I came to the realization that I was never going to put on a jersey for one of those teams, I decided that writing about them would be the next best thing. My love for writing was discovered during my high school years. When given the opportunity to write about any topic, I somehow always picked a sports-related subject. Whether it was an argumentative essay about chewing tobacco in baseball or a research paper regarding the pioneering efforts of Leslie Visser for women in sports media, my focus constantly centered around sports. Thankfully, I stumbled upon Twitter and found Aerys Sports, enabling me to see that I could combine my passion for sports and writing for others to enjoy. I do have other interests that do not involve watching or writing about my favorite teams. Some of my recent addictions include running 5ks, cycling on open country roads, lap swimming, water skiing in the summer months, Starbucks coffee, healthy eating, and blaring country music (preferably Taylor Swift or Keith Urban). Witnessing a Chicago sporting event, though, would take the top spot of that list. There's nothing quite like the feeling of seeing a "W" added to the standings. I look forward to writing about plenty of wins (and the occasional loss) by the Bears. I am so appreciative for the opportunity to take on the position of Senior Chicago Bears reporter for Aerys Sports. My goal is provide the latest Bears news, some of my opinions, and maybe a few laughs along the way. Enjoy! Bear down! Kelly O'Brien
