Ray Allen is gone. Avery Bradley is scheduled for shoulder surgery and could miss the start of the season.
If ever there was a need for another shooting guard, it is right now, and that is what Danny Ainge plans to do.
“Obviously wee need to fill the void, we need another shooting guard, of course,” he said. “There are a lot of good players left. We’re limited to what we can do with the biannual exception we need to wait and see.”
So what players could join the Celtics? Take a look at some of the names floating around.
Courtney Lee: Lee played for Houston last season and averaged 11.4 PPG on 43% shooting and 40% from the 3-point line.
O.J. Mayo: Mayo has played four seasons in the NBA, averaging 15.2 PPG over his career. He has consistently stayed over 40% FG in his time with Memphis.
Raja Bell: Bell is a more season option than Lee or Mayo, playing 12 NBA seasons. His numbers were much lower last season with Utah, but he averages 9.9 PPG on 40% shooting.
There is always the possibility that Mickael Pietrus could return to Boston, and other reports mentioned Gerald Green making a return.
