It has not been that long since our last episode, unfortunately, another one is needed.
Out:
Freddy Galvis is the latest victim of the DL curse this year. He was placed on the 15-day DL earlier today with lower-back strain. Galvis has been a bright spot this season. When the rest of the team was falling apart, he was making spectacular plays at 2B. Especially considering he had never played second for any length of time before the middle of Spring Training.
My friend Brett (not a Phillies fan, but a baseball fan) said on Facebook:
Ya’ll are paying for that deal you made with the devil to win 5 straight divisions.
And as soon as I can figure out what deal was made, then we can figure out how to get out of it.
In:
Michael Martinez is back. I’m trying to find a positive to this, but, well, I just can’t. Calling him Mini-Mart maybe. I don’t know. Anyone have a positive to him being back on the team?
Out:
Pete Orr was optioned back to AAA the other day. He hasn’t played much, and I may have forgotten that he was on the roster at times, but he will still be missed. Mainly by my Dad who has a strange enjoyment of watching Pete Orr. Oh, and by me, but that’s because the Twitter account @PeteOrrFacts usually goes silent while he’s in the minors.
In:
Jim Thome is back. He can’t play 1B anymore and he can barely run. So, he’s here to be a pinch hitter. I guess he will be the DH for the next road series. After that, who knows what his role will be. But I do love Thome, because, well, it’s Thome. I just really hope he can Mash Taters soon!
That concludes another episode of “As The Phillies Roster Turns.” If you need me before the next episode, I’m probably pounding my head against a wall. Until then…
