Thursday Blitz: Panthers vs. Bucs and a Favre comeback?

The Tampa Bay Bucs host Carolina tonight looking for their first win. On the opposing sideline, the Panthers look to break .500 for the first time in five years.

Cam Newton is coming off a record setting game. In the Week 7 victory over the Rams, Newton completed 88.2 percent of his passes.

For the Bucs, Doug Martin will likely miss tonight games with a shoulder injury. Rookie Mike James will get the start in place of Martin.

The Bucs will likely go to Vincent Jackson often. Last week, he caught a career-high 10 passes for 134 yards and two touchdown.

Brett Favre comeback?

News broke today that the Rams, who lost QB Sam Bradford to a knee injury, called the retired Brett Favre asking if he’s interested in a comeback.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the quarterback declined the offer.

On Thursday, Favre made a radio appearance on ESPN 750 in Washington, and said the offer was “flattering, but you know there’s no way I’m going to do that.”

“I had a great career. I think if anything, the last year that I played was an obvious writing-on-the-wall vision for you, if you will,” he said. “It was time.”

Now-a-days, he’s focusing on putting his family first after they took a backseat during his career.
