MLBTR reports that the New York Yankees have claimed backup catcher/bullpen catcher Eli Whiteside off waivers.

This means that the Giants’ options at catcher in Fresno currently sit at two with … Eric Sim and Jackson Williams. This also likely cements Hector Sanchez’ role as backup catcher for the 2013 season.

So, y’know, hey! Options!
