One of the only good things to come from this god awful lockout is the number of charity games players have been organizing. This past Saturday, Brad Richards of the New York Rangers organized a game called “Operation Hat Trick”, a charity game to raise money for Hurricane Sandy relief. Numerous players played in the game, and it was obvious afterwards what was really on their minds.
Steven Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightening tweeted this after the game
James Neal of the Pittsburgh Penguins tweeted this
(FYI, he was booed everytime he touched the puck and ended up scoring 4 goals)
And Henrik Lundqvist tweeted a picture with celebrity coach Vinny, of Jersey Shore fame. Note, I use the term “celebrity” very loosely here
The one thing all these tweets have in common? They all talk about happy they were to be playing again. Come on, NHL. Take the hint.
