See, now they had to play at 11:30 at night, and that really just doesn’t work well when you’re supposed to play a getaway game in the afternoon the next day.
It’s hard to put a positive spin on such a rough loss (5-3, but really late at night after the Orioles actually get a quality start), especially when the pitcher who’s supposed to be your future ace is taken out of the rotation for the rest of the year. (Matusz “not being able to properly defend himself” is another issue entirely, one I will tackle this afternoon once I have more time to write.)
At any rate, the two teams play again at 1:05, and Zach Britton is pitching for the Orioles. Somehow, I get the idea that both teams are going to look somewhat sluggish today. Well, if they play at all. I’m 20 minutes from New York City and it’s still drizzling here.
Fingers crossed, all.
