After growing up in the Chicago ‘burbs as a die-hard Cubs fan, my move to Western Canada in 2002 forced me to be far from any MLB team. I won’t say it’s the only reason I moved to Toronto, but living walking distance from the Skydome… I mean Rogers Centre… is a huge bonus and I get to as many games as I can. In 2009, the Jays hosted a “Dog Days” event at the park, and we were able to bring our two Chocolate Labs, Cooper and Jackson, down to the game.
I usually sit up in the 500 level, a bird’s eye view for the action below. I love the thrill of climbing the ramps before the game, concrete hallways echoing with the cheers from previous games, the disappointment when things don’t turn our way.
I’ve been writing my whole life and have a B.A. in fiction writing from the University of Illinois. I’ve published three non-fiction craft books and dozens of columns, largely on technology and fiber arts. G9Sports is my first venture into combining my love for the Blue Jays with my love for the written word.
Professionally, I develop web applications for the Government of Ontario. I design patterns for knitting and crochet. I love to cook and read and run and travel. You can read all about my non-sporty life at www.indigirl.com.
