Monday Morning Motivation: The “Gone Golfing Early” NHL Edition

While 16 playoff teams have been battling it out to get the honor of hoisting the Stanley Cup for the past two weeks, there are 14 teams that weren’t so lucky this year. This post is a tribute to those hotties who have been working on their golf swings and tans instead of their slap shots.

First up is the Calgary Flames. Now, as we should all know, the hottest man on the Flames would be their captain, Jarome Iginla… but he’s already been featured in his own Monday Morning Motivation.

However, this is not stopping me from posting this photo once again.

So who do we have left on the Flames? Uh… hm. Well, I… oh, wait, this guy:

Monday Morning Motivation: Vinny Lecavalier

Although the Christmas season is officially over, who says we can’t gift ourselves with pictures of good-looking guys? Today’s Monday Morning Motivation is the ever-so-gorgeous-and-French-Canadian Tampa Bay Lightning captain, Vincent Lecavalier, or Vinny for short.

Image Detail

Vinny was drafted in 1998 to the Lightning, has portrayed legendary Montreal Canadiens (and Vinny’s hometown hockey team) Jean Beliveau in the film The Rocket, won the Stanley Cup with the Bolts in 2004 and now, is a family man with his model wife, Caroline and his two young children, Victoria and Gabriel.

Monday Morning Motivation: Ryan Malone

Now that baseball is over, it’s only appropriate that Monday Motivation turns its eyes to the Boys of Winter. This week we feature Ryan Malone, left winger for the Tampa Bay Lightning. In addition to being a physical player who isn’t afraid to sacrifice his body to help the team, Malone definitely isn’t hard on the eyes.

His father Greg also played in the NHL for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Ryan was the first Pittsburgh native to play for the home town team. His dad was nicknamed “Bugsy” by his teammates after the movie Bugsy Malone , and it’s a moniker that has stuck with Ryan to this day.

Malone represented the USA in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and helped the team to bring home the silver medal in ice hockey. He is also pretty heavily inked, has lovely curls, and a dazzling smile.  That’s enough from me. Enjoy!

Tune In Tuesday: Tampa Bay Lightning

It kind of goes without saying that I’m a huge music nerd. I have thousands of songs on my iPod, thousands of CDs, and buy actual vinyl record albums.  Music is a huge part of my everyday life, so it only makes sense that it would play such a big role in my hockey fandom.  I’ve been a Lightning fan for a long time, so I’ve definitely accumulated a few tunes that have a lot of memories associated with my team. Here we go…

1. AC/DC – “Thunderstruck”

I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to have a Lightning playlist and not include this song. For years it was played as the team took the ice at the start and end of games. During hockey season, this is ALWAYS my cellphone ring tone. For me it captures the excitement of attending a game at the Forum and… excuse the pun.. the electricity of the team.

2. Muse- “Uprising”

This song became popular during the 2010-2011 season and really captured the attitude of the team for me. For a lot of the year it seemed like no one in the league wanted to recognize or respect the renaissance taking place in Tampa. They were skilled, they were talented, and they refused to be ignored. That tenacity took them within a game of the Stanley Cup Finals.
