(With help from Stephanie Skinner and Katie Banks.)

With the NBA Playoffs getting in full swing over the weekend, what better way to prepare than to do some…umm…”research” of the playoff rosters.  So, here we go, 16+ reasons you should be watching the NBA Playoffs…

Let’s start with the Eastern Division.

New York Knicks – Tyson Chandler

The Knicks’ big man won my heart last year as he lead the Dallas Mavericks to their first NBA Championship.  Will he be able to do the same for the Knicks?  I’ll say this, he makes cheering against Lebron that much more exciting.  I think it’s the smile. » Continue reading “Monday Morning Motivation: NBA Playoff Edition (Eastern Division)”

Drunk Dialing Dwight Howard Was Not A Smart Thing To Do

A Christmas Gift for Vander Weide!

Bob Vander Weide has stepped down as the CEO of the Orlando Magic. This move would be newsworthy on its own, but the reason behind his resignation is something out of Reality TV.

Like Jersey Shore’s Snooki calling her boyfriend Gianni late night from Italy, Vander Weide apparently called Magic star Dwight Howard at 1 a.m. recently and, according to Howard, the longtime Magic executive sounded intoxicated.

Vander Weide admitted to drinking some wine before he made the call.

“I was playing paddle with friends and had a couple of glasses of wine,” Vander Weide told BHSN. “Maybe Dwight thought it was inappropriate to talk business after a couple of glasses of wine… Maybe I should have waited until the morning.”

Yeah, ya think? Who makes a business call at 1 am to someone not working in the Far East?

Remember how people used to give their car keys to their friends to prevent drunk driving? People need to start handing over their electronic devices to their friends so they don’t do something stupid like this. A grown man making that much money and who has had a long career with an NBA franchise should not be drunk dialing his players.

Alex Martins who is the Magic’s current president, was named as Vander Weide’s replacement. Vander Weide was promoted to CEO in July 2010 after serving as the team’s president for 16 years.

“It was a good long run for 20 years. I originally committed for three years and stayed another 17. I’m very proud of the last four years. Especially, a trip to the finals a couple of years ago and winning season after winning season.”

Vande Weide began his career with Orlando in 1992 as vice president of basketball operations.

“This move allows me to be more of a fan than an executive,” Vander Weide noted.

Hey Dwight, now that he has more time on his hands you should probably block Bob’s phone number!
