Twitter Thursday: What Is Real?
No doubt, there are a lot of parody accounts on Twitter, and trust me when I say there are a lot of good ones out there.
Recently, a NBA parody account received some national attention. The big story this week involves Chris Brousard, no not the ESPN NBA reporter with two S’s in his name. “Brousard” earlier this week tweeted a report that Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo and a couple of draft picks had been traded to the Sacramento Kings for Tyreke Evans and the fifth overall pick in this year’s draft.
Naturally, as you might imagine, folks in Boston were in full-fledged panic mode.
This also happened earlier this year to the official Sportscenter Twitter account of all things. In March, Adarn Schefter, as far as we know there is no relation to Adam Schefter, tweeted a report that Tim Tebow had been traded to the Jaguars. Well the Sportscenter twitter account picked it up and retweeted it as breaking news.
We were able to get an exclusive interview with “Chris Brousard” via twitter, and he was able to answer a few questions for us:
ONR: What interested you in creating the account and why did you choose Broussard?
Brousard: I was inspired by the first big troll, which was the Adarn Shefter report about Tebow going to Jacksonville. Schefter is only NFL so there was a wide open opportunity for the NBA slot.
