Twitter Thursday: Chad Ochocinco Weds And Invites Special Guest

Miami Dolphins WR Chad Ochocinco (or is he calling himself Chad Johnson again?) wedded reality TV star Evelyn Lozada on July 4th in Mexico.

Before we get to the actual wedding, let’s look back on an act of kindness by Chad.  On Tuesday, a women tweeted Chad for some prayers following the loss of her husband:

First off, what other athlete would offer a fan on twitter an invitation to one of their most  special days of their life. Lemme answer that for you, the likelihood is no one else than Chad Ochocinco, err Johnson. Chad gets a bad rap for his on-the-field antics but he is one of the best athletes when it comes to athlete-fan interaction.  You’ll always see him tweet to his fans offering the first 20 or so fans to show up at such-and-such place will get dinner or something. » Continue reading “Twitter Thursday: Chad Ochocinco Weds And Invites Special Guest”

Twitter Thursday: Ochocinco And The Case Of The Missing Starbucks Card

If it wasn’t obvious, one of my favorite things about Twitter is the ability to stalk follow athletes.  It’s even better when these athletes give you a play-by-play of everything going on in their lives.  BECAUSE THEY ARE SO INTERESTING.  The master:  Chad Ochocinco.

Well, the latest trial in Ochocinco’s life has been the break in of his rental car and the theft of his wallet…and more importantly, his Gold Starbucks card.  So what exactly happened?

Twitter Thursday: Ochocinco Discovers The NHL

Football players often find they have a lot of free time in the off season. Chad Ochocinco is apparently using his free time to catch up on what’s going on in the NHL.

Despite the lack of proper punctuation at the end of his first sentence, he is indeed asking a question. Whether or not it’s a legitimate question isn’t the point of this story. However, since a question was asked, Twitterers must answer!

Disregarding the bunch of tweets that say nothing more than “this should be good” or “heck yeah Ochocinco is watching hockey” (paraphrasing, of course), the responses were nicely varied:

Some people addressed their personalities without talking about the product they put out on the ice, such as Mr. McGarr:

Others decided that comparing them to players in other sports was the best way to help Ochocinco absorb the information:

A Little Lion Urine Never Hurt Anyone

Just think without the wonders of Twitter we may have never known that the New England Patriots’ Chad Ochocinco was peed on by a lion on Saturday evening.   Wait, what?

Chad was at a charity event in Miami for Voices for Children which evidently featured a few jungle cats.

As a person who really doesn’t like to go out either, I’m pretty sure a giant zoo animal urinating on me would ensure that I never left the house again.  » Continue reading “A Little Lion Urine Never Hurt Anyone”

Twitter Thursday: Chad Ocho…Err Johnson?

Well, seems the days of Ochocinco are coming to a close.  Don’t worry, Chad isn’t going anywhere.  He’s just changing his last name back to Johnson.  Why?  Well, I’ll let Chad tell you.

The popular athlete-tweeter tweeted Wednesday morning:

He later clarified:

Now, I don’t know how warrants work exactly, but I’m pretty sure you can’t just change your name to avoid them?  Maybe I’m wrong…I’m also to lazy to look this up.

It’s the end of an era, folks, but that doesn’t mean he’s lost his sense of humor.

Still the best.

UPDATE:  According to TMZ, the real reason Chad is changing his name yet again?  So Evelyn won’t have to take the fake name.  How romantic.

Super Bowl Super Guide: New England Patriots

(With help from Aerys’ Lead Gonzaga Correspondent, Lise Green and Patriots’ Lead writer Kristen Jane…)

Like I mentioned in our Wednesday post, I’ll be cheering for the New England Patriots this Sunday.  No, I’m not a life-long Patriot fan, nor did I even watch a single one of their games this season.

I’ll freely admit that during the regular season, I spend most of my time watching the Dallas Cowboys solely so I can make fun of them (Hmm…I wonder how many friends I lost with with single statement?).  I do however, prefer the Patriots over the Giants.  Why you ask?  Well, I’ll tell you.

The Patriots are just more interesting than the Giants.

Ochocinco To Start A Women’s Magazine?

Tuesday afternoon, the always entertaining, Patriots WR Chad Ochocinco tweeted that he may be interetested in entering the publishing industry.  Well, sort of.

Yeah, Jay Cutler doesn’t think you’re funny.

Ochocinco Wedding Off! We think. Maybe?

Can't these two just get along?!

It’s less than ideal to begin anything by saying, “according to TMZ,” but that’s what we’re going with. So deal with it.

Looks like there might be trouble in paradise for super tweeter/New England Patriots wide receiver Chad Ochocinco and his fiance, “Basketball Wives” star Evelyn Lozada. TMZ is reporting that the couple, who were set to marry this summer, have put their wedding on hold because Evelyn suspects Chad has been unfaithful.

According to the TMZ :

“Basketball Wives” star Evelyn Lozada recently confronted Ocho after she became suspicious about his behavior … and she isn’t convinced he’s been faithful.

This is about as uninformative a report as you will ever see, especially considering one paragraph later they explain Evelyn hasn’t “officially” canceled the wedding. Still, her concern over Chad’s possible infidelity is interesting.

Raising further questions is Chad’s rather cryptic Tweet posted this afternoon :

There was also this.

Yeah, somebody is mad at somebody for something. I’m not saying; I’m just saying.

Chad proposed to Evelyn in November of 2010 with a 10-carat holy-crap-are-you-serious ring. He was playing for the Cincinnati Bengals at the time. Chad often tweets about their relationship, though there are definitely some things that qualify as TMI.

What’s saddest of all is that Chad and Evelyn were just about to begin shooting their new reality TV show chronicling their “post-engagement relationship leading up to the wedding.” Boo. I was really looking forward to this.

Twitter Thursday: Wes Welker Joins Twitter; Awesomeness Follows

Chad Ochocino is a lot of things : NFL Wide Receiver, Entrepreneur, Actor (He was on an episode of the League), Entertainer, Comedian (?), Bull Rider, Star that Danced with Non-Stars, and perhaps most notably, a World-Class Tweeter. His tweets are so popular, he recently earned the #1 spot on CNBC’s Most Influential Athletes In Social Media List.

It might not seem that desirable for a guy who is supposed to be earning his money as an NFL player to be mostly recognized for his Twitter account, but in this day and age that is actually worth a lot. In fact, it’s worth an estimated  $2.7 million dollars. So, there is that.

Wes Welkers current Twitter avatar is not an actual photo of Wes Welker.

Chad’s social media presence is so influential that he actually managed to convince teammates Aaron Hernandez and Wes Welker to join Twitter, somehow overriding the Bill Belichick no-fun clause and helping spread Twitter joy to millions of people everywhere – especially people that live in New England.

As a Jets fan, I feel I am obligated to tell you that you shouldn’t follow Wes Welker (or any Patriot for that matter) but truthfully, I cannot. Wes Welker is turning out to be a great tweeter and he fills my timeline with things I never expected a New England Patriot could : Sunshine, giggles and rainbows. Okay, maybe not sunshine and rainbows, but you get what I mean.

Just how wonderful is Wes Welker’s Twitter account? Well here’s a sneak peak of what you might expect from the wide receiver.

Twitter Thursday: What I Learned This Week On The Internets

While reading a few Tweets, I came to a few conclusions…

I’m not convinced Ochocinco knows how eHarmony works…or steroids…
