So I met Kobayashi Takeru on Saturday at Blogs With Balls. Seriously. And you know what? For somebody who makes a living by eating ridiculously copious amounts of food extremely quickly, he was kind of adorable in person.

Maybe it’s my huge interest in anything and anyone that comes out of Japan, but I seriously enjoyed this part of my Saturday. He was super-awesome and super-polite and didn’t seem to mind the fact that I was insanely shy and had to be dragged over by Astros writer Terri. At any rate, I guess the motivational part here is if you’re running late on this particular Monday and you need to be inspired to eat your breakfast faster.

That’s him eating a pizza in less than a minute. At about 1:02, someone screams, “Aishiteru!” which means “I love you!” I find this oddly amusing because I barely resisted yelling that on Saturday. In a room where there were about 250 people and everyone would have heard me.

If you’re more into breakfast food, that’s a video of him eating sixteen bananas in one minute.

So there you go. That was ironic, wasn’t it? Yeah. Please don’t judge me.
