Friday Flashback: Remembering Bubba Smith

Bubba Smith passed away at 66 last Wednesday. And it was in 1966 when he and the rest of the Michigan State football team won the school’s last national championship.

He’s known as a legend at his alma mater, but he went on to be known for many other things — the Super Bowl ring with the Indianapolis Colts and the various acting gigs he had after his football career, most notably in the Police Academy series.

Thursday, family and friends said their final goodbyes to this multi-dimensional man in Los Angeles, where Smith lived.

Here’s a clip from Police Academy.

And a classic Miller Lite commercial:

And a tribute to the man who fans — thousands packed into the stadium — would chant “Kill Bubba Kill.”
