Danny Boyle was apologizing for the London 2012 Olympic Ceremony leaks. Already there is some scrutiny over the idea of his countryside theme complete with farm animals (12 horses, three cows, twogoats, 10 chickens, 10 ducks, nine geese, 70 sheep and three sheep dogs).

And most recently, the playlist that electronic geniuses Underworld will be mixing has been released by an “industry source” to some eyebrow raising. Where else would anyone find composer Handel, rock band Led Zeppelin, and hip-hop artist Dizzee Rascal all in one venue?

Whatever the case may be – the whole world will be watching (and listening) on July 27th, that’s when the Opening Ceremony for the Olympics takes place in East London.  The venue itself will represent an English meadow with green imagery, around 11,000 volunteers and yes, farm animals.

Many will be looking to Her Majesty for a reaction while the Sex Pistols “God Save the Queen” is played (a song that was originally banned in 1977 by the BBC). Of course with other young royalty in attendance and the success of her most recent Jubilee celebrations, the Queen will likely enjoy the show along with the rest of the world. Surely, the Oscar winning director will not let us down and has asked that volunteers “save the surprise.”  Whatever that surprise may be – we will all have to wait and see.
