Crazy Ending to Queen’s Club Final

David Nalbandian has been a professional tennis player for at least 12 years, has been in 23 finals, so this was nothing new to him. This was only his 2nd final on grass court, last time was in 2002, both of which were in London. You would think that someone with that much experience would know how to behave.

But you’d be wrong.

He had won the first set 7-6, and was 3-4 in the second set. He made a mistake and instead of moving on like most players would, he decided to take out his anger on the advertising board.

Other players have kicked at the boards when they’re frustrated, but unlike those players, Nalbandian ended up hurting the linesman. He kicked out in frustration and the boards broke, cutting the linesman on the leg and causing him to bleed. The tournament’s officials came out and decided to default Nalbandian, which means that Marin Cilic, from Croatia, won the final.

Here’s the video of the incident:

He later apologized for his actions, but it might be too little, too late. I know there are a lot of people who have lost respect for him. After all, he’s a grown man, he should how to behave in these situations. He let his anger take over and in the end, had to pay for his actions.

Friday FAIL: He Said What?

I apologize if this picture gives you nightmares.

This week brought us a plethora FAILS ranging from the questionable Pacquiao/Bradley ruling (…or so I hear…I know nothing about boxing) to the Lance Armstrong doping charges.  However, it was a few interesting things said by two different individuals that caught my attention this week.

First up:  David Stern.  Yeah, so while on the Jim Rome Show, NBA Commish David Stern was being grilled about whether or not he thought the NBA draft was fixed.  To which he responds:

“Have you stopped beating your wife yet?”

Yeah…

Obviously, he was trying to prove a point – that if the media starts raising “ridiculous” questions that the public will start to think it’s true and that asking if the draft was fixed was “cheap”.  OK… I’m sure there might have been a better way to say that, David, and I’m sure A LOT of listeners would not have gotten the point and probably googled whether or not Jim Rome beats his wife.

Next up:  Bryce Harper.  During an interview earlier this week, the Nationals’ super-hyped rookie was asked if he would drink alcohol while in Canada (since Harper is only 19 and the legal Canadian drinking age is 18).

Cowboys Stadium Featured On TNT’s Dallas

I watched the premiere of TNT’s Dallas on Wednesday, and now I have the theme song stuck in my head. During the opening credits, that iconic music was played over images of Dallas’ most famous landmarks, including Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. (Just as the original Dallas featured Texas Stadium.)

The perfect location for your next meeting

As one would expect from Dallas, the show features plenty of scheming, betrayal, and love for the hometown football team.

The classic rivalry between Ewing brothers Bobby (Patrick Duffy) and J.R. (Larry Hagman) is renewed, but the next generation has picked up the family feud. J.R.’s son, John Ross, wants to put the family business back on top by drilling for oil on the family’s land, while Christopher is looking into alternative energy options. Uh-oh…looks like a tug-o-war for control of the Ewing empire.

Let the backstabbing begin.

In the final scene of the pilot, John Ross has a clandestine meeting about a real estate deal with pseudo-conservationist and zillionaire Marta del Sol (Leonor Varela) on the 50-yard-line of the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, right on the blue star.

How ridiculous is that?!

The Canseco Chronicles: Vol. VIII – Live And In Color

Guys, this could be me and Jose for just $1.50/day!

It’s probably time that we check back in with our favorite Tweeter…

Since we last saw Jose, he was asking for All Star votes (let’s just forget he doesn’t play in the MLB) and pondering running for President or Governor of “New England”.  So what sort of shenanigans has he been up to since?

Deep Thoughts by Jose Canseco.

Friday FAIL: Where To Begin?

So, I’m starting to think that maybe I should start renaming this feature to “Friday News-Anchors-Know- Nothing-About-Sports”.  I’m starting to think that maybe they should teach Sports 101 in journalism school.  Anyways, the worst of the worst from this past week.

Then an ACTUAL screencap (via @RoyalHalf) of a news channel WHILE TALKING ABOUT THE LA KINGS.

Not only is this not a graphic about the LA Kings, but ERIC GAGNE RETIRED IN 2010.  How does this even happen?  Did this news channel dub Gagne “LA King”?

Oh, but it gets worse.  This anchor apparently can’t read a teleprompter as she mixes up Jonathan QUICK and Jonathan SWIFT.

They do have similar career paths.

Then, this poor girl thinks that basketball games can end in a tie. » Continue reading “Friday FAIL: Where To Begin?”

Twitter Thursday: What-A-Burger

You know what I love?  A good, old fashioned Twitter rant.  You know the ones where an athlete jumps up on a soap box and starts preaching…and eventually just rambles on until you’re not really sure how you got there.

Enter: Adrian Peterson (@adrianpeterson).

(Everything here was tweeted in this order. Nothing was deleted.)

Well, it’s hard to read since you cut it out of the picture, but yes “100% pure American Beef” does bring A LOT of questions to mind!  Mmmm Whataburger… » Continue reading “Twitter Thursday: What-A-Burger”

Monday Morning Motivation: Adam Henrique

I’m a big time New Jersey Devils fan.  This season has been super enjoyable as the Devils take on the Los Angeles Kings in the Stanley Cup finals.

One thing in particular I have enjoyed about this season is the uprising of a rookie.  He started with the team, then was sent down, and brought back up and has been extremely dominant in the line with Zach Parise and Ilya Kovalchuk.

He’s had a playoff run to remember scoring two series ending overtime goals.

Not to mention that he is also extremely good looking.

I present to you Adam Henrique!

No, I wasn’t lying.  He is extremely good looking.  I like a man in a good suit. » Continue reading “Monday Morning Motivation: Adam Henrique”

Monday Morning Motivation: Jonathan Quick

The Los Angeles Kings have been quite a Cinderella Story through the 2012 Stanley Cup playoffs.  They were the 8 seed going into it and have been on fire.

One of the biggest reasons the Kings are in this position is because of their goalie.  He has to looks, but most importantly, the talent.  He’s aggressive, extremely talented and (no pun intended) has quick reflexes.

Ladies and gents, I present to you, Jonathan Quick!

Quick is super good at this game.
