Friday Flashback: Tom Brady’s Hair

At long last, Tom Brady no longer wants to try to be Ashton Kutcher and cut off his famously shagtastic hair. It was so important that the good folks at The Boston Globe wrote an obituary for the locks, which is quite amusing.

Women will no longer fall head-over-heels for him because he’s just so gosh darn cute and actually pay attention to what he is: an interception maniac.

Apparently the change was in order with Brady throwing four interceptions during the first game against the Bills, wherein the Patriots lost.

Hair gone, faith restored? We’ll see.

Except for those fans who will want the new hair-do as a computer background, there may be no attention paid to this in Boston.

You can, of course, thank the Red Sox for that.

NBA Stars Finding Ways To Pass The Time

Bosh and Anthony in the opening scene of SVU.

Chris Bosh and Carmelo Anthony can add “actors” on their resume, which might come in handy as the NBA lockout continues.

Both guest starred in last night’s episode of Law & Order: SVU, playing — what else? Basketball players. They weren’t actually playing though. They appeared in the opening scene and in the end, with Anthony having the majority of the lines.

The two are in the middle of presenting an award to an high school basketball coach when a man interrupts the ceremony. He’s accusing the coach of sexual assault.

While this is Anthony’s first time as an actor (we think …), Bosh once appeared on Entourage, playing himself at a bar asking for a drink.

Here’s Bosh talking about his experience on the show, including the awareness that needs to be brought with regards to the episode’s topic:

Bosh also tweeted that it took five hours to shoot two minutes of the opening scene.

Meanwhile, also last night, Dwayne Wade was on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon promoting his Court Grip product and take part in a 3-point shooting contest with Fallon. In true weird Fallon fashion, the two were trying to get random objects through the hoop.

Erin Andrews and StubHub: A Match Made in Girls Night Heaven

Erin Andrews Girls Night Out

Newsflash: Women like going to sporting events to cheer on their teams. (Say what?!?).

While sports apparel companies may not have caught onto this yet (I still feel like I’m walking into Candyland rather than the women’s section at the ballpark stores), us ladies love to bang against the glass of the sin bin as much as our male counterparts.

StubHub is looking to capitalize on our demographic, and they’ve teamed up with ESPN’s Erin Andrews to make it happen.

Their collaboration has produced the promotion “Girls Night Out,” where women can enter to win VIP experiences for themselves and their gal pals at select NCAA football games. Games range from USC vs. Stanford to Alabama vs. LSU, and winners can bring either one or three guests depending on the particular event.

Much like their prior initiative “Moms Night Out,” StubHub is donating portions of all ticket sales to the GNO games to charity. The organization of choice this time around is TAPS, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors. It aids family members who have suffered the loss of a loved one in the military in the form of counseling and other resources.

“StubHub’s Girl’s Night Out program is a great way for women to show their team spirit this fall,” Erin Andrews said during the announcement. “I chose to work with StubHub on this because I know firsthand that many women are just as fanatical about going to games as men, and what better way to showcase that than being at a stadium with your friends and supporting such a great cause too.”

StubHub also released data from Wakefield Research citing that 35 percent of women would rather go to a sporting event with their girlfriends than stay at home and watch with their significant other.

I’m certainly among them, and I wish that the Girls Night Out program extended beyond college football. I’m sure there is bureaucracy and logistics involved, but I’d love to win a VIP experience to the New York Rangers when hockey season starts up again!

Twitter Thursday: Ozzie Guillen (Part Two)

When my favorite Twitter personality was “traded” to the soon-to-be Miami Marlins earlier this week, I thought it would be fitting to see what Ozzie had to say about all of this.

(Seriously, folks, Ozzie. In Miami. Zambrano could follow. @LoMoMarlins tweeting every batsh*t crazy thing Ozzie does. This could be epic.)

What say you, @OzzieGuillen?

He starts out boring. Loving Chicago, the fans, the players … YAWN …

Then he jumps to Spanish.  Since I don’t know Spanish, I will attempt to translate.  No need to Google.  I got this, peeps.

“Omar … you … manager … fame … crazy … i want a pedestal … big boy life … i love you omar vizguel.” I’m sure I’m close.

Then Ozzie gets a bit defensive. Is it “hipocret-lol” like “hypocritical” or “hipocret LOL” like he’s laughing? Thoughts?

I Do Do.

Cleveland Cavalier Daniel Gibson can cross off “get married. again” on his list of things to do during the current NBA lockout.

Gibson and R&B singer Keyshia Cole renewed their vows in Hawaii, complete with a waterfall backdrop, which she posted on Twitter.

But why get married if you can’t get something out of it?

A camera crew was on hand, capturing the moment for reality television series “Family First.”

The couple first said their vows in a private ceremony in May.

DWTS Recap: No Nudity Was Involved in the Making of This Episode

Never in my lifetime would I think I’d say this, but thank goodness for Dancing with the Stars.

I was in the middle of reliving one of the worst moments in Chicago Cubs history, watching the ESPN’s documentary Catching Hell, about Game 6 of the 2003 NLCS between the Cubs and the Marlins, when I realized — it’s 9:00! I can switch to some fluff and stop torturing myself! Julie DiCaro did suffer through it and lived to tell about it on LOHO, if you’d like to read her take.

Now let’s cut to the chase, shall we?

No nipples were exposed tonight, but Nancy Grace and her voluptuousness will return for another week, so if you’re in it for the porn, you should be happy.

We had to wait until about 9:52 to find out, but our beloved goalkeeper, Hope Solo, will return next week. Phew!

Like the judges, I believe her rusty performance last night was due to not being able to practice for the the full week, and I didn’t really believe she would be in jeopardy of being eliminated. She also had the poor luck of performing first, and by the time contestants like Carson Kressley and Chaz Bono took the the stage, the judges were much softer with their ratings.

I came into the night thinking that either Carson or Chaz would definitely be out. After all, neither can really dance. But the LGBT fanbase has power. Carson was the first star revealed to be safe, while Chaz and his partner had to wait until nearly the end, just barely escaping the basement of the final two. Yes, SHOCKING!

In the end, it came down to David Arquette against Elisabetta Calanis (who, if you read my recap of yesterday, you know is my faaaaavorite).

And the loser is …

Tune In Tuesday: FIU Panthers Football

FIU Football is one of my obsessions. I look forward to game day not just because I get to tailgate with friends, but because I get to see some of my favorite men ever play their hearts out.

Now, sit back, relax, and enjoy some awesome music for this week’s Tune in Tuesday.

1. “Welcome to the Jungle” – Guns N’ Roses

Such an amazing song for sports, period.  It pumps me up at the games.
