More Buckeye Championships

While I have been slacking a bit due to various events that are occurring off-line, The Buckeyes have not let up in the least. Ohio State snagged a couple of NCAA championships over the Holiday weekend to add some more hardware for the trophy case.

Ohio State’s First Varsity Four brought home a gold medal at the NCAA women’s rowing championships. This is the first National Championship for the rowing team. The previous high finish for the team was third in 2006. The Second Varsity Eight missed a championship by a mere 1.90 seconds as they were nosed out by TTUN at the finish line. The team finished fifth place overall.

The winning ways continued for the Men’s Tennis Team as Chase Buchanan and Blaz Rola brought home an NCAA Doubles Championship. Buchanan and Rola also made NCAA tennis history as they became the first tandem to win all three major collegiate championships in one season (D’Novo/ITA All-America Championships, USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships and NCAA Championships).

The dynamic duo entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed. They went 14-0 during the three championship runs and ended the season 36-4 overall and boast an 18-1 vs. nationally-ranked opponents.

Congratulations to both teams on outstanding seasons!
