Outlook:
Oh how I love this week. In a way, I wish it was still the week prior to Thanksgiving, though, because my week of intense hatred for all things mitten state are put on hold to be thankful and stuff. Regardless, this is still the greatest rivalry in college sports and anything can happen.
TTUN’s defense is strong, which is no doubt pleasing to the Wolverine faithful who watched the Rich Rod era Swiss cheese Ds. Their offense? Well, they are ranked 5th in total offense in the B1G, but they are reeling from a few recent injuries. They lost Fitzgerald Toussaint last week against Iowa to a vomit-inducing ankle injury and Denard Robinson is a bit hobbled and acted in more of a RB role against the Hawkeyes. It’s not like it mattered much, though, as Devin Gardner fits the mold of a Brady Hoke QB a bit better than Robinson.
One positive for The Buckeyes is that, while TTUN is ranked #1 in the B1G in passing D, they are 6th in rushing D. If the Buckeyes can continue to feast on a steady diet of Miller and Hyde, they should be able to get some yards. One negative for The Buckeyes is that Gardner is a pretty solid passer. The Buckeyes haven’t exactly performed well against the pass. It’s especially frustrating given the fact that they have arguably two of the best CBs in the conference. The safeties, however, well…
Of course, as we all know, stats and rankings mean nothing in this game. You never know what will happen when these two teams meet. This is Buckeye Nation’s bowl game this year, so hopefully The Buckeyes just leave it all out on the field. A bonus request would be for Braxton to have a Heisman moment.
