About

Just a little bit about Aerys Sports’ Ohio State writer, Krista Jones:

Three left turns and two right turns. These are the simplified directions from my childhood home to The Horseshoe. The Scarlet and Gray has run through my veins since birth. Many fall Saturdays were spent either watching the Buckeyes on TV, listening to play-by-play on the radio or taking in a game at Ohio Stadium.

I’ve never understood Ohioans who  pull for “that school up north” (TSUN, as they will be referred to from here on out) and will let that fact be known to acquaintances who have partaken in this unfortunate behavior. I find the words of Woody Hayes to be an inspiration. I get chills during The Ramp Entrance, The Dotting of the “I” and while watching the team sing Carmen Ohio with The Best Damn Band in the Land. I could watch hours and hours of footage from the 10 Year War and never grow tired of it. My mood has been altered by the result of a game (both positively and negatively) and I have actually made this fact known to people I have been in relationships with as I feel it’s just the right thing to do.

Basically, I love my Buckeyes. I also realize that many…well…do not. I revel in this and enjoy partaking in witty banter (provided it stays “witty” and does not take a nasty turn to “hateful”) and welcome any who disagree with my take on the Buckeyes to bring it on :) .  I will bring a mix of snark, stats, personal insight and humor along with general updates about all things Buckeye. I am also, however, a realist. I am not shy about expressing my displeasure when I feel the need. Even the best of relationships have a few bumps, right?

Oh, and the title? Well, during orientation we were told to always make sure that those who mocked our beloved mascot and asked “what is a Buckeye anyway” were reminded of one simple fact; it is a poisonous nut. A nut that could, in fact, land you in the hospital if you tried to consume it. This is my constant reminder of what a Buckeye is to all who ever question it :)
