With all the talk about the Harbaugh brothers, John and Jim, coaching next week in Super Bowl XLVII and the first family of the NFL in the Mannings, most fans often lose sight of the yet another family strong with the NFL force.

The Ryan Family.

The patriarch of the Clan Ryan is none other than Buddy Ryan of the famed 1985 Chicago Bears 46 defense. We know the younger Ryans well. Rex Ryan is the current head coach of the New York Jets and Rob Ryan was just recently let go from his defensive coordinator position with the Dallas Cowboys. But less known to most is Buddy Ryan’s oldest son, Jim Ryan.

KSDK’s Frank Cusumano sat down in an exclusive interview with the eldest brother who also happens to be a St. Louis area resident.

Here are some notes from that interview.

All Hail The Bristol Wingo!

                       I don’t do “Follow Monday’s” very often but when I do, I prefer @wingoz.

All you non-Twitter folk, he’s better known as Trey Wingo.

My favorite orange tie (Courtesy FrontRow)

For St. Louisans with great memories his name will sound familiar.  Mr. Wingo worked at the local NBC affiliate, KSDK, as their sports anchor and has great love for the city of Webster Groves.

Unfortunately for sports fans in the Lou, his time here was short lived.  His natural talent and quick wit caught the eye of The Mothership and they swept him off to Bristol, CT.  Sniff, sniff.

And as they say, the rest is history.

Currently, Mr. Wingo is best known for being the anchor and catalytic host of ESPN’s NFL LIVE - one of my must watch shows but only when Mr. Wingo is hosting.

Without him, the show is just ho-hum football banter lost at sea.

So, thank you, sir, for making my Twitter timeline and my weekday afternoons that much better.

On that note, I want to wish you a very happy birthday, Mr. Wingo!

Here’s to lots of great golfing and skiing this year.

… And may your yard be grizzly free.

p.s.  The football gods must have been listening because recently ESPN extended the show from thirty minutes to a full hour of programming.  Congratulations to all who make the show so great.

Next up?  Maybe a podcast?  Yes, please!

Wednesday’s Pigskin Blitz

Welcome to the Wednesday’s Pigskin Blitz.  The PS Blitz will give you a quick look at news regarding the Rams and around the league.  So go grab some coffee and take a seat.  If you’re a Titans fan it looks like you’re in for a bumpy ride this morning.

1) FoxSports.com: TEN Titan WR Kenny Britt was arrested yesterday in NJ after being caught speeding.  He is charged with eluding an officer, lying to an officer, and obstructing government function.

Where should Britt have been on April 12th?   In Nashville doing voluntary workouts with the team.  What we’re seeing is fallout from the ongoing labor negotiations.  This is his third strike in past 16 months and will most like be seeing disciplinary action once the season starts.

2) KSDK.com: NFL announced that the Rams will be playing the Chicago Bears in the Pro Football HOF game on Sunday, August 7th, in Canton, OH.

3) STLToday.com: Add NC Saftey Da’Norris Searcy and Miami (FL) CB Brandon Harris to the list of players to made pre-draft visits to Rams Park.
