Friday marked the end of the first week of full squad OTA’s for the Rams.  The first time the rookies get to see where they measure up to the returning veterans.  Because rookie camp was just that, a camp for just the rookies.  The real gauge of whether these wide eyed newbies would make the team began this week.

But noticeably absent from Rams Park were draft picks WR Brian Quick (Appalachian State), RB Isaiah Pead (Cincinnati), WR Chris Givens (Wake Forest) and undrafted free agents P John Hekker (Oregon State), RB Nick Schweiger (Dartmouth) and TE Cory Harkey (UCLA).

Second round picks Quick and Pead and fourth round pick Givens were chosen to represent the Rams in this annual NFLPA (NFL Players Association) production.

Rams 2012 Draft Pick Profiles

Rookie Camp Huddle from 05/12/12 (Courtesy STLouisRams.com)

With their first rookie mini-camps under their belts the Rams 2012 draft class has officially begun their journey in the NFL.

According to Rams head coach Jeff Fisher the 40+ some rookies (10 drafted and undrafted rookies) arrived in St. Louis and went through what Fisher called an orientation.  He said “mini-camp” would imply the players were going at full speed and in shape – and clearly these rookies were not at that stage – but they are slowly but surely going to get there.

After Saturday’s practice Fisher said, “We were very impressed. Since we talked last, we had a three hour meeting last night and installed a bunch more offense and defense and then again did the same this morning. The offense came out and had a walk-thru. The defense did not. I thought both sides responded pretty well.”

Here are the draftee profiles as compiled by the Rams on their website (click on the player’s name for more info) and some of their quotes.  Enjoy and get to know the new kids on the block.

Rams Third Day Draft Picks

Courtesy STLouisRams.com

We’re at the third and final day of the 2012 NFL draft.  Sniff, sniff…  It went by way too fast, don’t you think?  Especially since we’ve been looking forward to this weekend for so long.

I won’t even begin to act like I know anything off hand about any of these guys.  So for now here’s the basic information and I’ll get into more specifics as the days go on.

From what I’ve been reading though sounds like the Four Pillars era is officially over.

With their final five picks the Rams select:

4.1 (#96)  - Wake Forest WR Chris Givens

5.15 (#150 from CHI) – South Carolina OG Rokevious Watkins

6.1 (#171) – Missouri Western K Greg Zuerlein

7.2 (#209) – Hawaii LB Aaron Brown

7.45 (#252 Compensatory pick) – Abilene Christian RB Daryl Richardson
