The NFL has handed down suspensions for those involved in the Saints bounty scandal on Wednesday and it came down hard.

Per NFL Network’s Jason LaCanfora the NFL has suspended Rams defensive coordinator Gregg Williams INDEFINITELY.

Head coach Sean Payton is suspended one year affective April 1 and fined $500,000.  Assistant head coach Joe Vitt is suspended six games and fined $100,000.  Saint General Manager Mickey Loomis suspended eight games and fined $500,000.  The Saints as an organization was fined $500,000 and will lose second round picks in 2012 and 2013.

As I wrote earlier in this process, I had a feeling this would happen.  He was the administrator and the hammer truly came down hard for Williams.

This turn of events makes the hire of Dave McGinnis very important as he will most likely take on the role of defensive coordinator in 2012.  My feeling is Gregg Williams will be back with the Rams after serving his suspension.
