Keeping Up With The Pack

The Packers have yet to make any huge trades for players during free agency, with the exception of trading Matt Flynn to Seahawks, but still have plenty of things going on to keep them busy.

This week it was said that Green Bay was one of the teams to possibly look at trading for Tim Tebow, which of course put them in the spotlight for a bit, but then he ended up being traded to the New York Jets.  Of course, I’m somewhat biased because I’ve been a fan of Tebow since his Gator days, but I must say he pulls off the green and yellow pretty well if you ask me! :)

Not too bad right?!
But on to other news…

The construction of Lambeau Field is going very smoothy and running right on schedule. According to Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy:

“We’ve been really pleased. It’s going along very well.”

When talking about the new video board that will be placed in north endzone, Murphy said

“The first things that’s going to hit fans is the size of it. I think it’s really going to provide a dramatic improvement in the gameday experience for our fans.”

With the mild winter we’ve had this year, the plans to move forward with the expansion is right on schedule.

Also,  Dancing With The Stars premiered it’s latest season last Monday with our very own Donald Driver! He and his partner, Peta Murgatroyd, did the cha cha, and while recieving a score of only 21, fans were thrilled at his performance, and actually booed his score thinking it would be higher.

So now, even though it’s the offseason, clearly we can see that the players and staff have a lot of great and fun things to going on to stay busy until the next season starts!

The QB Controversy

Yesterday the Seattle Seahawks got their QB, and yes it was non other than Aaron Rodgers back up man, Matt Flynn. He may not have gotten the biggest contract, but at least he is now able to have his own team to lead. Welcome to the NFC West Mr. FLynn.

Flynn’s deal with Seattle is for 3 years, and $26 million, $10 million guaranteed.

Flynn had a visit with the Miami Dolphins as well, but chose the other team….seems to be the trend around the league.

Miami wasn’t able to convince Peyton Manning to come to play for them, and now they have missed out on Matt Flynn. Forgive me for saying this because I know every team plays every game with the goal of a win, but perhaps they wish they had a higher draft pick this year so they could draft a new QB? :)

With that being said, news was just released moments ago that Peyton Manning is now a Denver Bronco. That brings up the question of where Tim Tebow will end up for next season. Maybe Miami can work something out with him? Alex Smith of the 49′ers is still in question for the Dolphins as well. Needless to say, Miami will figure it out and get their QB, and Tebow will be a great addition to whichever team he end up with. Yes, he has some things he needs to work on, but I’ve supported the kid through it all and with his excellent leadership skills and high character, he’ll find his place.

But back to Flynn, he did play one game for Green Bay this season and put up some excellend stats, and I know Seattle is going to be very happy with their new additon. I think Aaron Rodgers and Seattle Head Coach Pete Carroll completely agree.

Green Bay and Seattle will in fact meet each other this season at Seattle. And according to Vic Ketchman, it will be a great game to watch.

It’ll be a very high profile-game for Packers fans. Whether or not it’s a game of national interest will depend on where it fits on the schedule and how Matt Flynn is performing when the two teams meet.
