The Pack of the Past: A look at previous Green Bay Super Bowl wins
With Super Bowl XLVI coming up this Sunday, I thought it would be relevant to take a look back at the previous Super Bowl victories of the Packers. The Packers have won 13 championships in their history….that’s more than any other team in the league I might add.
Not only have they won the Super Bowl more times than anyone else, they also won the very first Super Bowl to be played in the history of the NFL.
Here are the seasons Green Bay has won the title, their opponent, and final score.
1929: League Winner
1930: League Winner
1931: League Winner
1936: Boston Redskins, 21-6
1939: New York Giants, 27-0
1944: New York Giants, 14-7
1961: New York Giants, 37-0
1962: New York Giants, 16-7
1965: Cleveland Browns, 23-12
1966: Kansas City Chiefs, 35-10
1967: Oakland Raiders, 33-14
1996: New England Patriots, 35-21
2010: Pittsburgh Steelers, 31-25
I’m so impressed and proud of that list, even though I was only alive to witness the last two.
Basically this is showing that even though Green Bay didn’t make the Super Bowl this year, they’re an amazing team and are always searching to add another win to their list.
Let’s just point out a few factors that provided them with their fabulous record this year. What makes the Green Bay Packers a winning team? The QB of all QB’s Aaron Rodgers? The weapons he has downfield in Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, and Donald Driver? The run game led by James Starks, Ryan Grant and John Kuhn? Each of these players bring dynamic talent to the team, but when they all come together with the stunning protection of the offensive line, they drive down the field to put up points and allowed themselves to be ranked number one in the league on points scored per game in the regular season. And with the help of Clay Matthews, Charles Woodson, and the rest of the Packers defense, this team definitely has made a name for themselves.
Okay, back to Super Bowl talk. I’m just saying, with all the weapons Green Bay has on their team this year, in addition to what they will pick up in April during the NFL draft, the Packers may be on their way to their 14th championship title very soon!
