Green Bay Gets Win Over Detroit 27-20

The Packers come up on top again this week as they hosted the Detroit Lions. They take the win, 27-20, and remain on top of the NFC North at 9-4.

Today, the Packers played without Clay Matthews, Charles Woodson, James Starks, and Jordy Nelson to name a few, but also faced the  harsh conditions that come along with playing at Lambeau. The snow and cold temperatures weren’t stopping the Pack today though, and here are our key play from tonight’s game.

Detroit had an early 14 point lead to start of the game, but the Pack clearly wasn’t phased. To get things stated offensively for the Packers Mason Crosby hits a 49-yard field goal in the second quarter, followed by a 43-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Mike Daniels.

Early in the third quarter Aaron Rodgers takes it to the house himself  with a 27-yard run. In the fourth, Dujuan Harris finds the end zone on a 14-yard run, and then Mason Crosby kicked a 41-yard field goal, sealing the game.

Tonight was another great night for Aaron Rodgers as well, as he threw for 173-yards, completing 14 of 24 passes, with no interceptions or sacks.

Next week the Packers head to Soldier Field for yet another divisional game against the Chicago Bears who are also fighting for the NFC North title and are one game behind the Packers at 8-5.

Packers Beat Vikings 23-14.

It was a close one today, but the Packers were able to come away with the win today, 23-14 against the Minnesota Vikings.

But before anymore talk about the game today, it’s a very special quarterback’s birthday today. Yep, you guessed it. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AARON RODGERS!! So, in honor of his 29th birthday today, I’d like to give you a few great pics of the fabulous QB. Here we go!

Now, back to the game today. Greg Jennings was back and active….but did not account for any of the touchdowns today. It was all James Jones and James Starks, and field goals from Mason Crosby, but no complaints. A win is a win, and we’re just glad Greg was back. And the fact that the Pack was able to pull out a win despite Adrian Peterson’s 210 rushing yards is awesome. Jordy Nelson did come off the field limping during the second drive of the game due to a hamstring injury, in addition to T.J. Lang injuring his ankle.

The Packers are currently tied with the Chicago Bears for first place in the NFC North, each at 8-4.

Packers Welcome RB Cedric Benson

photo from inquisitr.com

Sunday, the Packers signed RB Cedric Benson. YESSSSSSSSSSS!!

As I have mentioned before, injuries especially in the running back position could be an issue for Green Bay, but they may have just found their answer.

Cedric may not be the youngest running back in the  league, but I think he will still be able to hold his own. According to Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com, Benson said,

“I think I’ve got plenty. I still feel good. I’m still loose, I diet well and I train well and do the best I can to contribute to the longevity of my career as best I know how. And I think I’ve got plenty of years left. I feel great. “

That’s great to hear. I think he will be fine as well, and will be a crucial addition to this team, especially now that James Starks is out due to a turf toe injury.

Cedric began his career with the Chicago Bears in 2005, then played for the Cincinnati Bengals for four seasons, and now is apart of the Pack! Feel free to show some love to the newest member of the Packers team on Twitter!

Welcome to the team Mr. Benson. We’re so glad to have you here!

And just an extra fun tidbit, guard T.J. Lang has agreed to a four-year contract extension. Congrats, T.J. We’re glad to keep ya around!

Packers Prepare For Preseason Opener

awesome photo of Rivers and Rodgers via bleacherreport

Tomorrow night the Green Bay Packers will begin their preseason as they take on the San Diego Chargers at San Diego.

The Packers faced the Chargers last year during the regular season, where they were able to come away with the win, 45-38. Talk about a good game. Although preseason games are not included in their record, they give a somewhat good indication as to how the team will look when the regular season starts…and are just a great way for us to pass the time until the regular season starts. :)

One of the things to consider heading into preseason are injuries, especially in the running back position. With James Starks and Marc Taylor being the only healthy running backs at this point, I look for Taylor to see a lot of playing time tomorrow night to insure the safety of Starks.

Be sure to check out the game tomorrow night at 7 on ESPN and watch it all begin as the Packers begin their journey back to the Super Bowl. GO PACK GO!

Here are some highlights of the Packers/Chargers game last year to hold yall over until then!

Breakout Year For James Starks?

photo from football.about.com

There has been a lot of talk lately about Packers RB James Starks and if this upcoming year will be a “breakout year” for him.

Heading into his third season with the Pack, he has a lot ahead of him, and hasn’t gotten much of an opportunity to prove himself yet. He only played in three games in the 2010 season. He played in 13 games in the 2011 season, starting only three of them though.

Last season Starks had 133 CAR, 578 YDS, and 1 TD.

Packers “hopeful” for James Starks breakout year -The Packers aren’t particularly deep at tailback behind Starks. Alex Green is coming off of a torn ACL and may not be ready for the first week of the season andBrandon Saine has just 18 career carries. There are veteran options like Cedric Benson and they could bring Ryan Grant back, but there’s no sign that the Packers are going to move in that direction. Read more from NBCSports.com >>
