Packers Preseason: Week 4

The Green Bay Packers will end their preseason with a 24-3 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Being the last game of the preseason, it was so important that Graham Harrell show that he should indeed be Aaron Rogers backup QB, and he did just that. During the game Harrell completed 13 of 15 passes, and connected with Green and Boykin for touchdowns.

Preseason has been great fun, but now it’s on to the real thing. They’ve done all they can to prepare and will kick off  the regular season against the 49ers at San Francisco next Sunday.

In addition to playing their final preseason game, this week, there were quite a few roster changes and cuts. Just today, the Packers released 18 players. Taken from Packers.com, they have released the following players:

T Shea Allard, WR Diondre Borel, TE Brandon Bostick, QB B.J. Coleman, FB Nic Cooper, T Andrew Datko, C/G Tommie Draheim, C/G Sampson Genus, WR Curenski Gilleylen, WR Tori Gurley, DE Lawrence Guy, S Anthony Levine, CB Otis Merrill, WR Dale Moss, DT Daniel Muir, RB Marc Tyler, G Greg Van Roten, and G/T Reggie Wells.

Also from the Packers official website, here is the updated roster!

Good luck to the boys next week and all season as they strive to bring the Lombardi Trophy back home!

Packers Face Chargers In First Preseason Game

Alright, I have just one thing to say. PRESEASON MEANS NOTHING!!

Okay, that statement is probably untrue, but preseason games do not count toward their record, so Packers fans can still breathe easy. We still have a whole season ahead of us.

And before I get started on my thoughts on the game, how about Shannon Eastin, the female ref? Good for her for going out there and doing her thing. You go girl!

Anyhow, the game ended with a score of 21-13 San Diego. Bummer. But as I said before, it is just preseason so it’s something that we can’t dwell on too much. I just hope Aaron Rodgers never has as rough of a start as he did tonight. He just wasn’t completing passes as he should…and we can only hope that that was a one time thing.

The Packers did score two touchdowns in the game, one from Randall Cobb on a 3 YD pass from Graham Harrell in the second quarter, and one from Marc Taylor on a 1 YD run in the 4th, followed by a failed two-point conversion attempt.

The Packers will have a chance to redeem themselves next Thursday as they take on the Cleveland Browns. Can’t wait to see what the next game has in store for the Packers!

Graham Harrell Impressing Packers

When you hear the words “Packers QB” obviously the amazing player to our left, Aaron Rodgers, comes to mind. Unless of course you’re still stuck in the Brett Favre days (which is okay too). But none too often do we take Graham Harrell into consideration.
Harrell is competing for the QB position in Green Bay. Will it happen? No. Is there any QB that is better than Aaron? No. But still, Harrell has to prove himself and show what he can bring to the team, and he is doing just that. Especially now that Matt Flynn is out of Green Bay, Harrell wants to show that he is the one who can fill the second string spot.  Throughout practices Harrell is showing that his strength and accuracy are really improving.
Harrell said, via Vic Ketchman of Packers.com
“The goal is to improve everyday. Since I’ve been here, my goal has been to improve as a player.”
It’s always nice to see players dedicated to improving their game, trying to reach their highest potential. Of course being on the same team as the current NFL MVP may offer some additon motivation.
