Packers Draft Review

Another NFL draft is in the books for Green Bay, and I’d say they did a pretty great job. Let’s take a look back at rounds 1-7 and all the players drafted by the Packers.

Nick Perry, LB, USC: 1st Round, #28 overall

Jerel Worthy, DE, Michigan State: 2nd Round, #51 overall

Casey Hayward, CB, Vanderbilt: 2nd Round, #62 overall

Mike Daniels, DT, Iowa: 4th Round, #132 overall

Jerron McMillian, S, Maine: 4th Round, #133 overall

Terrell Manning,  LB, North Caroline State: 5th round, #163 overall

Andrew Datko, OT, Florida State: 7th Round, #241 overall

B.J. Coleman, QB, Tennessee-Chattanooga: 7th Round, #243 overall

I think Green Bay made great picks during the draft, and addressed all their needs. Clearly, their defense is what needed the most work, and that was the main focus.  The first six players they drafted were LB, DE, CB, DT, S, and LB. That alone will give the Packers a lot to work with this year. Aside from defense, an OT is another position that was a need of theirs, and that is were Andrew Datko comes into play. After drafting all those defensive players they went with the OT. And last but not least, with Matt Flynn off to Seattle a QB was needed, so they used their last pick in the draft to pick up a QB.

Again, a huge CONGRATULATIONS to all of our new players and WELCOME to PACKER NATION! GO PACK GO!
