Game 2
As if there has not been enough anticipation for the Stanley Cup Finals, fans are forced to wait 2 days in between Game 1 and Game 2. Thankfully tonight is the night! The Kings look to continue their unbeaten road streak in New Jersey.
So going into tonight’s game there are 3 things the Kings need to continue to do in order to win tonight.
#1 Continue the vicious forecheck they have been throwing at the Devils, and everyone else they have encountered in the Playoffs! This is actually the Kings bread and butter right now, they are able to throw 3 forecheckers at the opposing defense, which forces them to inevitably scramble and make mistakes. Since the Kings defense is playing so well each of these forecheckers has full confidence that if the puck gets behind them their will be someone there to make the stop.
#2 The Power Play needs to score! The Kings haven’t scored a Power Play goal since game 2 against Phoenix. They have had a less than stellar PP throughout the Playoffs, but if they can get a goal or 2 from the PP doors will begin to open and the offense can really steamroll.
#3 Continue to use their size and make clean smart hits. Just watch Jordan Nolan in this clip and you will understand what I am talking about.
The Kings have a reputation for taking Game 2 into their own hands: 4-1 win vs Vancouver, 5-2 win vs St. Louis, and 4-0 win vs Phoenix. Tune in tonight and see what happens against the Devils at 7 pm CST.
