The 2013 football season will get underway in about six weeks, but Jadeveon Clowney is still being celebrated for his performances last season, and most notably, The Hit Heard ‘Round The World.
Wednesday night, Clowney was in LA for ESPN’s ESPY Awards, where he was the winner of the award for Best Play. His massive hit on Michgan’s Vincent Smith beat out Ray Allen’s Game 6 game-winning three-pointer, DeAndre Jordan’s dunk against the Pistons, and Khalil Edney’s buzzer beater.
Clowney kept his acceptance speech short and sweet. “This is a blessing to be up here,” he said. “I just want to thank God, my family, my friends, my teammates and all the people that voted for me. Thank you.”
Really, Jadeveon, thank you, for giving all of us in Gamecock Nation something to be proud of. You may wear No. 7, but you’re clearly No. 1.
