About

By clicking on the “About” page you likely want to learn more about me, Kristine, the blogger and genius (see what I did there?) behind “The Green Room.” So, let me first begin by saying thank you for visiting, reading and following my rants.

A little bit about me:

I was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I attended the prestigious Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and earned my BFA in Musical Theatre. Upon graduation I  moved to New York City, where I now reside with my husband and my adorable Boston Terrier, Buster.

So, yes — I am a New Yorker and that is, in part, how I became a Jets fan. More on that in a second.

I am an actress, singer, radio. TV and internet host, freelance writer and sports fan who has appeared on Broadway and spent the last 3 years touring internationally with Wicked, the Musical (Yes, the musical that is sort-of about the Wizard of Oz), performing the role of Nessarose. If you aren’t familiar with the show I’ll simplify it by saying I played the witch that the house falls on. If you haven’t seen the show before, I highly recommend it, and I really mean that. There is a lot of green in the production and that is just about the only way it relates to anything on this blog.

I have always been a sports fan, though that might seem strange considering what I do for a living. The inspiration behind my sports writing stemmed from my various experiences with friends, family, theatre fans and sports fans who found that not only did I know my stuff, but that I also had a knack for translating my knowledge and passion to other sports fans. After years of listening to people tell me that I should, I created my personal blog, the gridirongirlnextdoor.com. After a few months of blogging, tweeting and engaging with fellow sports fans, I was introduced to Aerys Sports and immediately fell in love with the idea of writing about my favorite NFL team and more importantly, being part of a network of fellow female sports writers.

Not only do I cover the Jets for Aerys Sports, but I am also a regular contributor of fantasy sports and NFL content for Aerys Offsides. My other work has been published in various digital publications, including NJ.com (powered by The Star-Ledger), The Jets Blog (part of SNY) and Dos Equis’ online magazine, “The Most Interesting Academy.”

Many people have asked me how I came to be a Jets fan and it’s pretty simple, though not that interesting: I moved to New York after graduating from college and was immediately attracted to the New York Jets. I liked their vibe, their look and their attitude and suddenly I found myself living to watch them play every Sunday. They organization has definitely made a concerted effort to appeal to a younger crowd in the past few years and I connected with it. I wish I could say my fandom goes back many, many years but the truth is that it doesn’t. It has been an exciting and passionate journey and I definitely feel that based on the sheer number or near heart attacks I have suffered watching them the past few years, I have earned my stripes as a real fan.

I look forward to hearing from all of you and I encourage you to get in touch with me and share your thoughts on the Jets, football, Fantasy Football, your favorite movie or even your favorite color. That would be fun.
