Jets star cornerback Darrelle Revis, will be playing today after missing last week’s loss in Pittsburgh. Revis earlier this week labeled this game a “must win” for the Jets.
The Dolphins have two things going for them so far this year. First, they can run the ball effectively with former Heisman Trophy winner, Reggie Bush. Bush has 241 yards rushing on 40 carries through 2 games. That an astounding 6.0 yards per carry, even if most was gained against a porous Oakland Raiders defense.
The Dolphins also have a stout run defense, lead by their monstrous nose tackle Paul Solai. Solai does the same job as Jets nose tackle Sione Pouha, both take up space and clog the point of attack, freeing up the rest of the front 7 to stop the run.
Dolphins rookie quarterback, Ryan Tannenhill will have his hands full today facing a tough Jets defense. Expect more running than passing for the Dolphins today.
The Jets offense will be without tight end Dustin Keller for the 2nd straight game. Quarterback Mark Sanchez will have to make due without his top passing target from last year in Keller, and Santonio Holmes will be expected to carry the load.
The weather reports have the game being clear and sunny for the 1st half and rainy during the 2nd half. The Jets must make the most of the clear skies, because if this game comes down to a trench battle, the Dolphins could run away with a W.
I am heading to Sun Life Stadium, expect reports throughout the day and follow me on Twitter, @EricG_89.
