Well, well, well. Looks like it’s time for another edition of The Sanchez Dating Chronicles.

According to In Touch Weekly (which, in case you are not familiar, is SUUUPPPER reliable), 37 -year old Desperate Housewives star/former NBA player wifey Eva Longoria is “dating” (going on dates with? has gone on a date with?) number six himself, Mark Sanchez.

I know what you must be thinking. She is 37, she is totally not his “type.” I thought the same thing. But let’s take a look at what the original “report” from In Touch alleges:

“It looks like they’re testing the waters,” an insider tells In Touch, after Eva was spotted on June 4 shopping with 25-year-old Mark at a Kings supermarket in Bedminster, N.J. — where the football star has a home. 

The next evening, Eva donned a blond wig as she and Mark had dinner and drinks with a group of friends at New York’s Hotel Griffou, where they looked very comfortable with each other, an insider tells In Touch: “They were laughing and having a great time.”

Upon reading the “report, various magazines and media outlets determined that the two were “hooking up” and the interwebz promptly exploded. (Also: Did you know that according to the internet “very comfortable with each other” = boinking?)

Thanks to the Kardashians, I have grown increasingly skeptical of any report linking celebrities of any kind based on nothing more than “sources” spotting people together. I read the headlines waiting in line at the grocery store, I know what’s up, and this smells an awful lot like it was planted by a PR person in very much the same way that whole Kate Upton was banging dating Mark story was planted by a PR person.

And why would Eva need PR? Well, because it was also reported today that the actress may return to a daytime TV role in Young and the Restless.

But what do I know?

It IS worth nothing that In Touch added this:

Eva and Mark — who was most recently linked to Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton — kept things hot on an island-hopping adventure in the Caribbean just weeks later.

Yeah — they probably are doing something if they went to the Caribbean together.

So let’s just say this is true. Well, that’s cool. After all, Eva’s PR rep confirmed that Longoria recently broke up with her boyfriend, Spanish singer Eduardo Cruz, so she is free to date. And since Mark wasn’t ever really dating Kate, he is totally available.

No word yet on what Tebow thinks of the rumored romance. Or what he had for breakfast.
