Patriots Very Valuable

Tell us something we don’t know.

It’s that time again, when Forbes Magazine releases its annual list of most valuable (i.e. richest) sports franchises. Our very own New England Patriots rank 6th on their list, topped by Manchester United, the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Yankees, the Washington Redskins and Real Madrid.

Forbes contends that the Pats are worth some $1.37 billion and writes that demand for their game tickets remains high, despite their having some of the highest prices in the league.

None of this is particularly surprising news, as the Patriots have a solid fanbase, put a perennial good team on the field and have an intelligent owner and head coach working together for its betterment.

But, you know, it would be nice if they could use some of those millions to lock down an elite pass rusher or pay Wes Welker so he doesn’t go somewhere else next season.

Just a thought. To keep bettering the team and all.
