Nearly 16 weeks ago, I decided it was time for me to become a practicing runner again. (I think once you have the mentality of a runner, you’ll always have it. It’s the actual running that requires continuous work.)
My Wonder Woman costume for the race came in the mail yesterday. I tried it on with a regular running top and shorts on underneath it and felt pretty comfy.
Testing it out during a run to make sure it doesn’t bother me should be interesting. I have a feeling laps around my fenced in backyard will be involved.
The only issue that I’ve come across so far is that when I’m wearing it, I have an intense urge to say “Pew! Pew! Blam!” and other things that I think comic book characters say.
My goal for the Halloween Halfathon is simply to finish it. But I already have some pretty grand plans for 2012. Just before my 24th birthday, St. Petersburg will host a Rock N Roll half marathon for the first time. About three weeks after that, Tampa will host the annual Gasparilla Distance Classic.
I’m in the final countdown phase for my first half, but in the grand scheme of things, I’ve only just begun.
I’m going to need a full-time job or a sponsor if I’m going to continue this life of a distance runner…
