Well it’s official, well the Twitter equivalent of official. The Cleveland Browns tweeted this morning that Coach Rob Chudzinski has named Brian Hoyer the starting QB for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.
This comes as a bit of a surprise since Jason Campbell came in when Weeden left the game in the 4th quarter of last Sunday’s game. However, Hoyer had a brilliant performance in the last preseason game. Yes, I know it’s only preseason so it doesn’t really count, but a good QB is good in preseason AND regular season, right?
Regardless, it’s official so we’ll see. Hoyer has been in the NFL since 2009 with a handful of teams. He started his football career right here in Cleveland, playing for Cleveland St. Ignatius, then he moved on to college at Michigan State; both are solid football programs.
