Habs Win 5th In A Row, Claim 1st Place In The East.

The Habs are playing hockey. Really good hockey. The Montreal Canadiens have won their last five games and picked up a huge road win at Madison Square Garden against the New York Rangers by a score of 3-1.

This is the first group of five consecutive wins since March of 2011 (February 28th to March 8th 2011) for the Canadiens. With this win against the Rangers, the Montreal is now at the top of the Eastern Conference with a record of 11-4-1 in 16 games. Although, their division rival Bruins have three games in hand, so the Habs might not be up there for long.

Max Pacioretty and Alex Galchenyuk both scored during the game, and Raphael Diaz finished with an empty netter in the final minute of the period. Also interesting to note that the Habs have allowed just two goals in their last four games, a positive for their shot blocking abilities out front and their goaltending of Peter Budaj and Carey Price. Additionally, Brandon Prust, who faced his former team for the first time since leaving the Rangers for the Habs in the off-season, finished with a +3.

Their next game is against the New York Islanders on Thursday night at 7:30 at the Bell Centre, their third game in four nights.
