The Montreal Canadiens took a fifth consecutive game and improved their record to 5-1-0 in the last six games in Newark, by defeating the New Jersey Devils 2-1 at the Prudential Center.
It was the net presence of Tomas Plekanec who made the difference in this sleeper, I mean game. Also, Jarred Tinordi got his first point in the NHL in his first NHL game on Plekanec’s goal. Tinordi took a shot on Johan Hedberg and Plekanec deflected the puck into the net for the Devils. Additionally, someone else got their first.. goal that is, as Colby Armstrong finally potted in his first goal of the season.
In addition to his first NHL point, Tinordi finished the game with a +2 and head coach Michel Therrien trusted him enough to send him out on the ice during the last minutes of the game.
The Habs play their next game Tuesday night at the Bell Centre, at 7:30PM against the Buffalo Sabres.
