About Me

Hi! I’m Terri Schlather. I live in Houston, Texas where I’ve spent the vast majority of my life although I did a few stints in other cities and states as a kid. I grew up as the youngest child and only girl in a family of football fans. My father grew up in Pittsburgh, PA so our family lived and died by the wins and losses of the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was tough to be a kid in Houston during the days of the Oilers and Luv Ya Blue while being a fan of the Black and Gold, but I somehow survived. I am still a Pittsburgh Steeler fan, but they’re not the team that captures me.

In college I found that although I enjoy football quite a bit, the sport that owns my heart is baseball. For me, baseball is not just fun and entertainment, it’s relaxing. Baseball has a pace I adore and is full of stats and science and strategy and all sorts of goodness. I don’t know everything there is to know about baseball, especially the business side, but I learn a little more every game, every series, every conversation and every season. I know good baseball when I see it and I know bad baseball when I see it and I’m not afraid to tell you what I think.

I’m brainwashing my 9 year old daughter, the weeone, into believing that baseball is the only sport worth watching and so far, she’s drinking the koolaid. She has even requested her own scorebook this season and I’m irrationally excited by this! We spend about 30-35 games each season sitting at Minute Maid Park cheering on the boys from H-town and I’m excited to share my thoughts about those games and others with you. I hope you tell me what you think, correct me if you think I’m wrong or just have an opinion that differs from mine.

So, in a nutshell, that’s me….and this is Tales from the Juice Box!

  1. Terri,

I write and run a Cleveland Indians blog, http://www.didthetribewinlastnight.com. One feature we do all winter is a weekly blog swap with another team that the Indians will play in 2012. We are starting to work our way through our interleague opponents and are trying to find an Astros blog to work with.

What we usually do is ask 5 questions, no more, no less. You send us the answers and we put it together for our blog. When we post the story, I’ll link to your site and twitter handle. We tweet all our stories and I’ll include your twitter handle in that too.

If you are interested, please send me a message back and I’ll send you the questions right away.

    Mike Brandyberry,
