Welcome back, meaningful football!
After what seems like a looooong offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers travel to Denver to take on the Broncos. I know what you’re thinking. Are you sure this just isn’t a rerun? No, because the Denver Broncos have their like new quarterback in Peyton Manning! And he’s playing his first game back from getting a new neck or a neck implant or something! And he hasn’t played in 15 years!
Meanwhile the Steelers have some unfinished business to attend. They return to the scene of the crime to avenge their playoff loss that I still don’t want to talk about. In all likelihood they will attempt to do so without James Harrison, whose knee is still not fully healed.
On offense this will be Mike Wallace’s first game under new offensive coordinator Todd Haley. Wallace missed all of training camp and preseason due to his holdout. I suppose we shall find out if he should have signed sooner to get to know the new system.
Speaking of Todd Haley, this will be the first real chance to see Haley’s new offense. The play selection was a little safe and boring. I don’t know about you, but “boring” is not one of the words I’d use to describe Todd Haley.
A new season awaits! What say you, Steeler Nation? Are you ready for some football?
