The Pittsburgh Steelers are about to turn 80 years old. And this celebration is not about them. No. It’s about *you*. The fan.

To mark “The Year of the Fan”, the Steelers are rolling out a variety of events for fans to enjoy.

• Fans could have a chance at being on season tickets with the Steelers Fan Image Season Ticket Design Contest

From Monday, April 2 through Friday, April 20, Steelers’ fans can submit a 15-second video on Steelers.com with their three words about, “My Pittsburgh Steelers.” On Monday, April 23, 80 finalists will be announced. The ten grand prize winners will be revealed at the 2012 Steelers Fan Blitz at Heinz Field on Saturday, April 28. Along with their image on the tickets, the 10 winners will also receive four tickets to a game, pregame hospitality, on-field pregame field passes, a $100 Steelers gift card and participation in the Terrible Towel twirl on the sidelines before kickoff.

• Fans can purchase commemorative 80th anniversary merchandise at the Steelers Fan Blitz later in April.

I certainly hope that “winning a 7th Super Bowl” is also somewhere on their list of things to do to commemorate “The Year of the Fan”.
