It’s time to brush off the ol’ passport, Steeler Nation. The Pittsburgh Steelers are going international.
As part of the NFL’s continuing efforts to expand across the pond, the Pittsburgh Steelers will take on the Minnesota Vikings in Wembley Stadium next September.
“We are excited for the opportunity to play in London in 2013 against the Minnesota Vikings,” said Steelers President Art Rooney II. “It will be an excellent chance to grow the game of football internationally, and we are thrilled that our players and Steelers fans around the world will be able to enjoy the atmosphere. We look forward to playing in historic Wembley Stadium in what we are sure will be an entertaining game for NFL fans everywhere.”
The Vikings will be the “home” team, so the Steelers will still have eight games at Heinz Field next season.
This will be the Steelers’ first trip to London, though not their first international trip. They have previously played in Toronto, Tokyo, Montreal, Barcelona, and Dublin.

I don’t like this ONE BIT. it’s such a huge disadvantage for the teams that travel across the Atlantic — jetlag, a long trip home with limited movement so their muscles can tighten after getting banged around for 3 hours on the field. To make it worse, it forces them to take their bye week early again (week 5). I hate it. Stupid Roger Goodell, all he cares about is making more money.
