White Sox Take Advantage And Win Series Finale Against A’s

continuing domination

Chris Sale started against Bartolo Colón. I think it is pretty safe to say, Chris Sale was going to come out on top in this battle. Sure, the Sox haven’t walked much and Bartolo doesn’t walk guys much but who cares? Especially when the game turned into a “how not to play short stop show by Cliff Pennington.” Cliff had two errors today and also a collision with Adam Rosales. The collision with Rosales led to AJ Pierzynski scoring from first base.

Some may be shocked by AJ doing this, but when no one is covering third base and then no one is covering home, well you should expect this sort of thing with a guy who is one of, if not the smartest guys in the game. Just another reason to give another team legitimate reason to hate him? Maybe, but when the defense plays like that, it’s hard to blame a guy who was heads’s up about what was happening on the field who took advantage to give his team an insurance run.

Bartolo wasn’t bad today. He walked two guys and that is a rarity for him. he didn’t really get rocked until the fifth inning. Though, really every time I see Bartolo, I am always reminded of the last time he was with the Sox organization and was in the minors for a bit and then just disappeared one day. And no one really cared all that much. It is amazing how he at 39 (ALLEGEDLY) has stuck around as long as he has.

Chris Sale on the other hand was just his usual amazing self. He struck out 11 hitters today and that just helps solidify the A’s as a team that loves to strike out a ton. He did go 6.2 innings today, but he threw 114 strikes. At the time he left the game,  the Sox were still leading comfortably. Final score of 7-3 and the Sox win the series and have a successful homestand.

In other news, Jordan Danks,  Friday’s hero has been sent back to Charlotte. The Sox want to bring up another reliever for added bullpen insurance. Clearly it is a numbers game and there is no doubt he should be back in September.

Now the Sox head off on a seven-game road trip with stops in Toronto (starting tomorrow) and then Kansas City.
